Tami is a freshman at Lake Highland Preparatory School who’s deeply interested in STEM including math and computer science. She always liked math, but it wasn’t until 7th grade that she got introduced to higher level math and really fell in love. Since then, she participated and received awards in several math competitions including MathCounts, AMC, Math Kangaroo, and Math League. Tami got into computer science and programming in the 7th grade. She also took robotics classes, joined the high school team, and took AP Computer Science A. At the end of 8th grade, Tami was invited to Orlando Math Circle’s math and basketball event at her school. This was her first event with OMC, and over the summer she learned more about the organization while taking a summer internship. When school re-started, she helped initiate a branch of Orlando Math Circle as a club at her school. She hopes to pursue STEM in the future and inspire other girls like her to do the same!
